The Truth about Chiropractors

What is the truth about chiropractors? Where do they learn their techniques? To answer all of these questions, chiropractors go through an extensive amount of education and training to become a doctor of chiropractic. According to the American Chiropractic Association, a chiropractic program has just as many class hours as a medical program.

Educational Requirements

Before a chiropractor can even become licensed, they undergo undergraduate education, consisting of four years. Most will graduate as a pre-med major having taken classes in biology, organic chemistry, physics, and psychology. From there, they will need to be accepted into a chiropractic graduate program that’s typically another four to five years. The education consists of an abundant amount of clinical training, where they learn adjusting techniques and more hands-on treatment. Overall, their graduate program comes with a total of 4,200 instructional hours in course credits. The truth about chiropractors is that they are highly educated.

After the eight or nine years of education and training, they will then need to sit for their state licensing board. After passing licensing and certification, they will officially become a doctor of chiropractic. They can also receive additional training and certification in specialties that meet their interest.
